About
From Veteran Secondary Social Studies Educator to UX/UI Designer. I am Jennifer Schweikert, and I am passionate about history, education, and design. Why not find a way to bring all these passions together and create experiences that can help inspire others to learn from the past?
During almost 16 years of education, my most enjoyable activities or lessons to facilitate with teenagers were project-based assignments. I love tapping into not only my creative side but also the innovative, inspirational side of others. I have mentored thousands of young people to grab hold of their dreams and strive to succeed over the years. Now it is my turn.
When the pandemic first hit in 2020 and schools went into lockdown, I discovered my passion for UX/UI Design. The politics and paperwork of education were getting exhausting and I was hoping to hold out for retirement but my passion for education as a whole was slowly dwindling. Sitting at home, instructing virtually quickly led me to realize that I was no longer happy with my profession. The highlight of the year was when I had to physically design my Canvas online courses for my students to operate and navigate through.
This led me to Thinkful where I learned about the design process, developed projects using Figma, and wrote case studies to present to stakeholders and others. While taking the UX/UI Flex Design course with Thinkful, I never lost my passion for education and especially History. Ultimately, I’d love to combine these three passions into a satisfyingly successful career.
